What is the Family Visa (Spouse / Partner / Child) (FM) Visa?
Allows Indian nationals to join a UK citizen, Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) holder, or settled person in the UK. Includes Spouse, Unmarried Partner, and Child Visa routes. Applicants must prove a genuine relationship and usually meet the £29,000 minimum income requirement. Successful applicants receive a 2.5-year visa with full work rights and can apply for settlement (ILR) after 5 years.

Take an approved SELT (IELTS Life Skills) at A1 level from an approved provider in India.

Marriage certificate, photographs, joint finances, communication records, shared address evidence.

Apply online via UKVI
Submit at gov.uk/uk-family-visa with all supporting documents and sponsor's financial evidence.

Pay fee & IHS
Pay £1,846 application fee plus ~£2,587 IHS for the 2.5-year initial visa.

Biometrics & decision
Attend VFS Global biometrics. Standard processing ~12 weeks. Priority option available (~30 working days for £500 extra).
