Select a U.S. vocational institution certified under SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program).
Submit your application and required documents to get admission into a vocational program.
Once accepted, the school issues Form I-20 confirming your eligibility for the M-1 visa.
Pay the mandatory SEVIS fee to activate your student record in the U.S. system.
Fill out the online non-immigrant visa application form accurately.
Pay the MRV fee required to schedule your visa interview.
Schedule VAC (biometrics) and embassy/consulate interview dates.
Gather passport, I-20, financial proof, academic records, and supporting documents.
Provide fingerprints and photographs at the Visa Application Center.
Answer questions about your course, finances, and intent to return to your home country.
Your application is processed, and a decision is made by the consular officer.
If approved, your passport is returned with the M-1 visa stamped.
Enter the U.S. up to 30 days before your course start date.
Check in with your institution and begin your vocational studies.
